Editorial principles
- Help visitors answer a real planning question.
- Separate supportable facts from opinion and promotion.
- Do not invent ratings, reviews, awards, prices, or claims.
- Disclose commercial influence where it affects presentation.
- Correct material errors openly and promptly.
Sources and verification
Listing facts may come from a business, an authorized representative, official websites, government or tourism sources, direct observation, or a licensed data source. We should record source and verification context internally and avoid copying protected descriptions or media without permission.
Before a launch listing is treated as verified, its name, category, location, phone, website, and current operating status should be checked against reliable current information. Material trip details can still change, so visitors should confirm them directly.
Organic ranking
Search ordering uses exact and prefix business-name matches, weighted relevance across listing and taxonomy text, typo-tolerant similarity, business name, and a stable final identifier. Category and area filters narrow eligible results before pagination. Payment, listing tier, subscriptions, campaigns, and placements are not organic matching or scoring inputs.
Automated query and migrated-database tests cover search inputs, filters, pagination, exact-name priority, taxonomy relevance, misspellings, and stable tie-breakers. Material changes to ranking principles should be reflected on this page and in new evaluation fixtures before deployment.
Collections and recommendations
Editorial collections should have a clear visitor need, original context, and a defensible reason for each inclusion. Selection is not a universal claim that a place is best for every visitor. Dates, seasonality, accessibility, budget, age, and location should be made clear when they materially shape a recommendation.
Sponsorship and independence
Compensation may provide access to defined listing tools or labeled promotional inventory. It does not purchase an undisclosed editorial recommendation, fabricated acclaim, or the removal of an accurate correction. Read the Advertising Disclosure for the complete paid-placement policy.
Corrections policy
Anyone may report a factual error. Send the page URL or business name, the disputed information, the proposed correction, and a reliable source through the correction report form. Basic correction reports do not require an account.
We will assess the evidence, contact an appropriate source when needed, and update material inaccuracies. Significant editorial corrections should include a visible note or updated date when that context helps readers understand the change. A business relationship does not determine whether a correction is accepted.
Reviews policy
Myrtle Beach's Best does not currently publish visitor reviews or star ratings. No rating should be inferred from directory inclusion, organic position, or an editorial collection. If first-party reviews are introduced, the site will publish moderation, eligibility, conflict-of-interest, reporting, and aggregation rules before public submissions open.
Ownership and updates
Published guides should identify editorial ownership and show published, updated, or last-verified dates where they help visitors. Seasonal and high-change information should receive a shorter review cadence than durable background material. The initial catalog and guides will not be presented as complete until their source and permissions review is finished.
