Advertising disclosure

Paid visibility should look paid

Revenue can support useful local coverage without disguising advertising as independent editorial judgment. This page explains the separation we intend to maintain.

How the site may be supported

Myrtle Beach's Best plans to offer free directory listings and may earn revenue from optional listing upgrades, direct sponsorships, display advertising, and affiliate relationships. Some products are still in development and will not be offered until their disclosure, eligibility, and reporting workflows are ready.

How paid influence is labeled

When compensation affects whether or where something appears, the affected placement will use a nearby label such as Sponsored or Ad. The label should remain understandable without relying on color alone.

A general disclosure elsewhere on the site does not replace a label at the point where paid influence affects presentation.

What payment may change

  • Eligibility for a clearly designated sponsored placement.
  • Additional media, calls to action, or reporting tools.
  • The dates and locations of a contracted advertising campaign.
  • Access to defined listing features included in a paid tier.

What payment cannot buy

  • An undisclosed editorial recommendation or fabricated award.
  • A made-up rating, review, price, or factual business claim.
  • Removal of accurate criticism or a legitimate correction.
  • A guarantee that a listing, click, lead, or sale will occur.
  • Control over unrelated organic results or editorial coverage.

Organic ranking and editorial choices

Organic results should be based on visitor relevance, verified information, category and area fit, content quality, freshness, and other published non-payment factors. Sponsored candidates may be selected through a separate campaign process and displayed only in labeled inventory.

Editorial collections should explain their purpose and use the standards in our Editorial Policy.

Affiliate links and display ads

If an outbound link can generate a commission, that relationship will be disclosed near the link or collection. A commission does not change the price paid by a visitor unless expressly stated.

Third-party display advertising is activated only after provider approval and after privacy, performance, and accidental-click safeguards are ready. When active, Google AdSense units appear in a separately labeled Advertisement region; an empty or incomplete provider configuration displays no ad inventory.

Measurement and privacy

Campaign reporting may count impressions and visitor actions such as website, phone, directions, or booking clicks. Reporting should use defined time zones and attribution rules, filter likely invalid activity, and avoid exposing private visitor or billing information.

The Privacy Policy describes how analytics and advertising-related data may be handled.

Questions or concerns

Email [email protected] if a placement appears mislabeled or if you have a question about a commercial relationship. Advertising opportunities are summarized on the Advertise page.
